Dyson is taking its engineering expertise into a new category with the introduction of the Dyson CameraJet™, a connected toothbrush designed to bring greater precision to everyday oral care.
The new device combines brushing, targeted liquid flossing, and mouthwash dispensing in a single connected system. At its center is a 100k-pixel macro lens camera designed to help identify gaps between teeth in real time.
Powered by Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting™ machine learning system, CameraJet scans 28 live images per second and uses machine learning to identify, track, and predict gaps between teeth. The technology has been trained using more than 470,000 dental images.
Dyson says the technology was developed over six years by 661 engineers, addressing several common challenges in oral care, including missed interdental spaces, inconsistent flossing, and brushing routines that may not adequately cover the mouth.
Beyond its camera system, CameraJet features a conical jet designed to remove plaque while remaining gentle on gums and enamel, along with an anti-gravity tank that delivers controlled mouthrinse jets from different angles.
A dual-bristle brush head is designed to increase tooth-surface coverage, while variable sonic oscillation helps maintain brush movement in harder-to-reach areas.
The experience extends to the MyDyson™ app through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Users can access live viewing, guided cleaning, coverage mapping, personalized feedback, and customizable brushing and jetting modes.
Despite its camera capabilities, Dyson says images are not recorded or stored on the device or in the cloud.
Dyson is also developing toothpaste and mouthrinse formulations intended to work alongside CameraJet, bringing its engineering approach beyond the device itself and into the wider dental-care experience.
With CameraJet, Dyson is rethinking the toothbrush as more than a simple cleaning tool. By combining sensing, machine learning, targeted fluid delivery, and connected feedback, the company is bringing intelligent technology into one of the most familiar routines of everyday life.
